First and foremost I want to convey my passion for what I do. There is no greater feeling for me than to provide care for people. I have the privilege of helping people to recover from injuries, to reduce and relieve pain, to improve their sleep and their digestion. Given the situation we have found ourselves in with COVID, I have seen a tremendous surge in the need for mental health support and have been called on to help support many more folks through periods of anxiety, depression and grief.
I see acupuncture as a tool that helps the body transition from a sympathetic (fight or flight) state to a parasympathetic (rest and heal) state. When your body is in this more relaxed state everything functions more optimally and creates better balance. I do not ‘heal’ people, I assist you to heal yourself. I have worked with 100’s of people who have experienced reductions in pain, increased energy, achieved better and more restful sleep. I have successfully helped many couples through fertility concerns, menstrual and pregnancy difficulties and labour preparation.
I began this journey with a yoga injury in my 20’s that left me with chronic back pain. I began exploring ways to manage and address the pain. This pushed me to explore many modalities and engage with many practitioners to try to regain the use and ease in my body I once had. Different therapies and bodywork modalities helped me to manage the pain over several years, but I was determined to solve the root problem. I tried many different approaches to working with the body, initially to relieve pain and ultimately to nurture the whole being: body, mind and spirit as one. From personal experience I understand that it is a process that includes physical and emotional aspects that are deeply intertwined.
Acupuncture is not magic, but its results can be magical.
